How Does Kybella Work?

Kybella is an injection-based treatment that’s specifically designed to get rid of submental fullness, or fat cells that accumulate under your chin (which is often due to genetics). Kybella’s active ingredient is called deoxycholic acid, which reduces fat. Your body naturally produces this molecule and uses it to break down fat. When synthetic deoxycholic acid is applied to the fat cells underneath your chin during your Kybella treatment, it destroys them. Because the cells are destroyed during this treatment, they lose their ability to store fat for good. This means the results from Kybella are permanent, provided you prevent the expansion of other fat cells with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

What Does Kybella Treat?

Submental fat, or fat underneath the chin, is an extremely common cosmetic concern. Kybella is a safe, highly effective treatment.

It’s the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for adults that has been clinically proven to permanently destroy fat cells under the chin for gradually improved results.

Am I A Good Candidate for Kybella?

Submental fat has many causes, but most Kybella patients were simply born with it. However, Kybella can also be a great option for patients who have lost a significant amount of weight. Another popular option for submental fat is CoolSculpting Elite. Our aesthetics experts will help you determine which option is better for your goal and comfort level.

You aren’t stuck with a double chin or any extra, unwanted under-chin fat. If you feel like you have extra fat in this area and would like a more defined profile, Kybella may be right for you. We offer Kybella at Method Aesthetics so we have a way to help patients slim their profile — and improve their self-confidence – without surgery.

Testimonials

Got an IV from Tatum yesterday at the first sign of some cold symptoms and she made it so quick and comfortable! She made sure I was well informed on what the IV had and how it could help my symptoms.

I had a fantastic experience with the extremely knowledgeable injector nurse, Alyssa, at this clinic! They were extremely skilled and guided me through a personalized skincare routine that already shown great results.

I was in need of a little confidence boost and went to Stephanie for a Botox treatment. She spent the time explaining every area of treatment and the results I could expect. Fast forward 2 years and I keep coming back to her because she makes me look and feel my best!

What is the Recovery Period Like After Kybella?

During treatment, we deliver a series of small injections to targeted locations across the area under your chin. Kybella only takes about 5 minutes to inject. You may experience a burning sensation that subsides after a few minutes, although we will apply a topical anesthetic to this sensitive area. Afterward, you can expect swelling to last 1-2 weeks as well as possible bruising. The area treated can also feel temporarily numb. You will see the result of your treatment after about 6 weeks.

Patients typically need 2-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to achieve their desired profile. Talk with us about your ideal chin shape and we can create a personalized treatment program for you.
